Movie Quotes: The Perfect Man

There’s friends everywhere. Right?

- Holly

Ben: In my opinion, roses always work. Always.

Holly: He doesn’t actually believe that, does he?

Ben: But who am I to know?

Ben: Yes, I do believe that. Don’t you?

Holly: That flowers always work?

Ben: Yeah.

Holly: Not if the guy’s a loser.

Flowers aren’t gonna change anything.

Flowers are just flowers, right?

Ben: Wow, your friend’s so cynical.

Amy: Sounds like she’s not into romance.

Ben: You know what? This is for you.

Holly: Why?

Ben: Because a flower like this is perfect.

And giving a woman a dozen of them,

Well, it’s like saying there is such a thing as perfect,

and it’s out there. Don’t give up. You’ll find it.

Holly: Really? A yellow rose says all of that, huh.

Ben: Actually, a yellow rose is for your sick grandma.

But for a woman, a red rose.

But if you really wanna knock her socks off,

you give her an orchid.

Amy: Why? What do orchids said?

Ben: You ever seen an orchid?

How it floats in the water so delicate and beautiful.

When a woman gets an orchid, well she feels like

she’s floating on a cloud of infinite possibility.

A few flowers never hurt anyone.

Holly

Quit questioning it and enjoy it.

- Holly

Explain this to me.

How come when it’s a man you’re looking at,

you’re blind to his flaws.

But when it’s you,

flaws is all you see.

- Dolores

I know what I’m doing borders on delusional.

But what can I say? Desperate times

call for desperate measures.

- Holly

Holly: I bet that he’s really really handsome.

Jean: Yeah. How would you know?

Holly: He writes like he’s really handsome.

Jean: Honey, have you seen pictures of Shakespeare?

Bald, skinny?

Holly: Does that even really matter?

Jean: Yes, because you can’t have a relationship with a man

you’ve never laid eyes on.

Okay, so maybe the perfect man wasn’t real.

But the perfect you is.

- Holly

Holly: Princess Holly.

Adam: Well, a side of her, anyway.

I realized she doesn’t need an army to protect her.

You don’t let anybody close enough to hurt you

in the first place.

Holly: I want to be alone.

Jean: Nobody wants to be alone.

Holly: I do. Okay, I’m through with these people

and I want new ones.

Jean: Unfortunately, honey pie, new people are only new for a day.

After that, they’re just people.

Who will excite you, disappoint you, scare you a little bit.

And boy, I know how tempting is to runaway when that happens.

It’s good for avoiding things.

The problem is, you end up avoiding yourself.

Avoiding people you love.

You end up avoiding life.

So, I’ve decided to start setting an example for you girls.

I’m gonna try showing you what’s sticking it out looks like.

Really get to know people. And let people get to know us.

I don’t promise to be any good at it, but I will try.

Because I want you and Zoe to be better at this than I am.

I want you to learn how to let people in.

Everything always has two sides.

- Jean
